You know Curtis, that is actually a good sight to all of those engines parked down in Huntington.
They are not being retired, however they are at least twenty or so of them in storage down there.

Here's one from our buddy Chase. It's good to see that CSX is doing upgrades to these old girls. Seeings how the 50's had such a rough past with problems, I'm suprised CSX isn't sidelining them.

CSX's Baldwin Yard at Baldwin, Florida on December 23, 2009

This yard is now closed and has been for almost a year. They use it to store cars such as AutoRacks, WoodChip, Gondola's, and other older cars. No engines are sitting as this once bustling yard. Most through trains just pass through. CSX has no plans to re-open this yard anytime soon.

I took these pics on my way north to West Virginia to visit family for the holidays.

SD70MAC and a GP40-2 on the Q-316 yesterday. Looks like the GP just came from the paint shop.

These C40-8W's are showing up more on the Ohio River Sub. I'm trying to get as many as I can. Are these going to be around very much longer? The more I see them, the more I like them.

Curtis-

No worries with the C40-8Ws...they will be around for awhile. They are still considered primary power to be placed on virtually any type of train and especially manifests and intermodals. A number of them have been stored during this poor economy but will return.

The #7300 and # 7900 series are the most notable......the red markers are still in place from the Conrail/LMS days.
